Achill Sailors to Sail Round Ireland For St. Josephs
Achill sailors and some of the children of St Joseph’s Pre-School and Early Intervention Service at the announcement of details of the Round Ireland sailing fundraiser for visually impaired children, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday July 15.
In July of this year RoundIreland4StJosephs, will undertake a circum navigation of Ireland in two six & a half meter open top rigid inflatable Boats (RIBS).
It is a trip of over 900 nautical miles, which will be covered in seven days.
They are doing this trip to raise money for St Joseph’s Services for the Visually Impaired & Multiply Disabled, and in particular their Preschool & Early Intervention Service. Although they are situated in Dublin they offer a countrywide service.
Prior to the event none of the people involved had any connection with the school. When they saw the school featured on the RTE 1 “Six-One†news programme, they were moved by the work they were doing and decided that they should do something to try and help out this very worth cause.
