Writer in Residence - Tom Phelan
Tom Phelan is the author of the critically acclaimed novels, The Canal Bridge, In the Season of the Daisies, Derrycloney and Iscariot. He has also written for Newsday, for the journal of the American Irish Historical Society and for the newsletter of the Great War Society. To date his works have been published in four countries — the U.S., Ireland, France and Germany — and in three languages.
Phelan is the recipient of a 2007 writer’s residency at the Heinrich Boll Cottage in Achill Island, County Mayo where he will spend part of the summer. In July he will give a seminar on “Writing Historical Fiction” at the West Cork Literary Festival in Bantry, County Cork.
