Post Office Robbed

The Post Office in Dooagh, Achill, was burgled on Thursday morning last in an audacious robbery where thieves disabled the CCTV system as they entered the premises and returned after fleeing, to take a second safe. The raid took place some time between 2.30am and 5.30am when the front door of the post office was forced in. The thieves tampered with the surveillance equipment before making off with two safes containing cigarettes and cash.

Gardaí believe that the thieves also stole a twin axle trailer with a black frame and red boards from outside ‘The Pub’, in Dooagh, and used it to transport a heavy grey cast iron safe containing a substantial sum of cash from the post office.
